The new leadership of City of Kigali held press conference with various media houses
The new executive Committee of the City of Kigali held press conference with various media houses working in Rwanda and in the region where they outlined some of the priorities in developing the city.
During the press conference, the City of Kigali Mayor pointed out that the priorities are in the area of infrastructure development, public transport, well being of city residents among others.
“We are keen on service delivery to the citizens, that is why we have invited you in this press conference, we need to hear from you as our partners who meet citizens in your daily work and we need also to answer some questions you have been asking about different programmes in the City of Kigal", said Mayor Rubingisa Pudence.
Responding questions on infrastructure, especially on different roads that need to be constructed in the City of Kigali, The Vice Mayor in Charge of Urbanization and Infrastructure, Dr Nsabimana Ernest said that there is a project of building 180 kilometers in the coming four years, which will reduce traffic jam in Kigali City.
On resolving the problem of street vendors in Kigali, the Vice Mayor in charge of Socio-Economic Affairs, Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine told journalists that the City of Kigali will not accept that kind of business that is why the City of Kigali has put in place small markets in the ‘Gira Ubucuruzi’ programme in the line of helping those people who don’t have enough funds but who can do small business.
The leadership of the City of Kigali promised to work closely with the media to inform the public and to be accountable to the people.
