The interim new master plan 2050 presented to stakeholders

Tuesday 0n 21st May 2019, The City of Kigali presented the  interim master plan 2050 to different stakeholders after the review and update of the 2013 Master Plan since July last year

In his opening remarks, the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Busabizwa Parfait, revealed that the City of Kigali have tried over the course of the project to prepare a master plan that responds to the general public interests.

“All challenges faced in the implementation of the 2013 Master Plan have been re-examined, all citizen complaints and suggestions  taken account of, and we have tried to align the Master Plan with all national policies and strategies. We have worked in close collaboration and partnership with most International organizations in a bid to make this process as transparent and responsive as possible.” He said

This interim Master plan presented by the City of Kigali uses new innovations like using local materials, planting local trees among others.

During the meeting, the Executive Secretary of the City of Kigali together with different partners launched a one month Public display of the Interim Master Plan.

Throughout the 30 days, all stakeholders and citizens will be able to make final comments on the draft master plan before a final Plan is prepared and approved.

Also during the meeting the City of Kigali announced winner of Kigali Master Plan new logo design that will be used until 2050.

Prize goes to students of University of Rwanda in the College of Science and Technology.
