Kigali, 17th August 2019, The City of Kigali has got the new Executive Committee led by Rubingisa Pudence as the City Mayor, and two Vice Mayors Ms. Umutoni Gatsinzi Nadine, the Vice Mayor in Charge of Socio-Econimic Affairs and Dr. Nsabimana Ernest, the Vice Mayor in charge of Urbanisation and Infrastructure.

The new Mayor replaces Rwakazina Marie Chantal who was recently appointed Rwanda’s Ambassador to Switzerland.

In his speech after swearing-in, Rubingisa said that he will build on what his predecessors have done.

“The contribution I want to make is continuing with the plan of building green, vibrant city that has entertainment for the different levels of people living in it,” he said.

“Public transport is also something I will seriously look into. The city of Kigali is home to many people, and an efficient public transport system is very important for everyday life”.

As it is stipulated in the new City of Kigali Law, the city council will be composed of 11 Councillors. The Council will be chaired by Dr Bayisenge Jeannette who replaces Rutabingwa Athanase.
