The City of Kigali Advisory Committee holds first meeting
Yesterday, at the sidelines of the Transform Africa Summit 2017 the first meeting of the City of Kigali Advisory Committee was held was held.
The City of Kigali Advisory Committee is mandated with providing advice to the City of Kigali in support of the strategic development, policy orientation and overseeing the general development of the City. This includes the identification of future priorities and opportunities to be pursued under the City’s development Plan.
The Advisory Committee is made up of experts in different urban development fields. The committee members come from different parts of the world. They presently include: Prof. Paul Collier (Chair), Arch. Peter Rich (Vice Chair), Dr. Okju Jeong, Mr Djoko Prihanto, Eng. Uwase Patricie and Arch. Paida Hlambelo.
In their first meeting the advisory committee discussed some of the pertinent issues in the implementation of the Kigali master plan which include how to attain the required densities to optimal use the infrastructure, Informal settlements, housing supply, urban transport, Infrastructure financing and building capacity of City and District staff members.
The advisory committee is co-chaired by the Mayor of the City of Kigali and also attended by all the senior leaders of the city and its districts.
The advisory committee members are providing their services to the city of Kigali on a pro bono basis.
