Pascal Nyamulinda has been elected Mayor of the City of Kigali
Today the City of Kigali got a new Mayor. Pascal Nyamulinda who has been the Director General of the National Identification Agency was elected to be Mayor of Kigali after winning an electoral college vote of 161 to 35 votes for Councillor Umuhoza Aurore.
Mayor Nyamulinda replaces Mukaruliza Monique who was appointed ambassador of Rwanda to Zambia after serving for 11 months as Mayor of Kigali.
In his speech after winning elections Mayor Nyamulinda indicated that he is going to value the contribution of every citizen of the City. "Every individual has a say in the development of this city and am going to act as a link between the people and the solutions being proposed to address the challenges our city is facing," he emphasized.
He pointed out that he is going to prioritize infrastructure development, deal with illegal constructions and uplift the welfare of every individual in the city.
Mayor Pascal also vowed to always be driven by the urge to do the right thing and fight corruption in public service in the City of Kigali.
While officiating the election and swearing in of the new Mayor, the Minister of Local Government Kaboneka Francis called upon the city leadership to work as a team and to serve the people. He reminded the new leadership about some of the big projects that need close follow up which include infrastructure projects and master plan implementation.
Mayor Nyamulinda Pascal has in the worked as a diplomat at the Permanent Mission of Rwanda at the United Nations Headquarter in New York and holds a Masters in Project Management from Maastricht University and a Bachelors Degree in International Public Affairs from the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
