From 2014, the City of Kigali has adopted the Kigali Investors’ Forum (KIF) to serve as a platform to discuss and share possible business opportunities that prevail as per the City’s development plan and to reflect the colours and spirit of the City of Kigali and its investment environment.

Opening the forum, the City of Kigali Mayor, Marie-Chantal Rwakazina, told investors that there are various opportunities for investors in Kigali. She put much emphasis on affordable housing for people who have low income.

“This is in line with developing housing conditions in the city, as well as improving different areas with poor housing."

Rwakazina also urged the business community to invest in establishing recreational areas, among other areas that have the potential to generate employment opportunities for the youth in the city.

This year’s KIF took place on 25th June 2019 and brought together more than 400 investors. Business players across all sectors were mobilized, shown possible opportunities, and requested to invest in the City of Kigali.

According to the Chief Investment Officer of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Mr Guy Baron, a good service sector is a prerequisite for achieving the country's development objectives. "There is a lot of demand for service jobs and service quality.  We have seen more training institutions coming up to try to provide the kind of people that are needed for businesses “he added.

 This year’s Kigali Investor’s Forum was held under the theme: “Role of investors in sustainable Economic Transformation with in the City of Kigali”

Different topic were discussed: 

-Investment opportunities in strategic sectors and the incentives that currently accord to investors that register their projects with the Rwanda Development Board;

-Presentation on new tax Law n° 75/2018 of 07/09/2018 determining the sources of revenue and property of decentralized entities;

-The role of financial system in sustainable economic development;

-Update on the ongoing masterplan review

This Kigali Investors’ Forum were organized in partnership with Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Private Sector Forum (PSF)
