Job Seekers and Employers Meet to Share Knowledge on Available Job Opportunities

On 15th May 2024, the City of Kigali, in collaboration with its stakeholders, organized the 13th edition of Kigali Job Net under the theme: “Together we can create decent, productive, and sustainable employment opportunities in Kigali.

In his opening remarks, the City of Kigali Mayor, Dusengiyumva Samuel, highlighted the event's aim to reduce the unemployment rate. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who have supported the City of Kigali in organizing all previous editions.

“We highly commend this initiative. Its results speak for themselves. Based on the latest statistics, from the previous Job Net event, around 600 job seekers secured permanent employment, while approximately 300 found part-time jobs. Additionally, about 2000 individuals received internships and 1700 participated in training programs to enhance their skills,” said Dusengiyumva.

He encouraged job seekers to take full advantage of the platform to connect with employers and showcase the solutions they can bring to the table.

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Dr. Bayisenge Jeannette, praised the City of Kigali and its stakeholders for the successful organization of Job Net since 2014.

“We are grateful for the role that this platform plays in reducing unemployment. It complements the Government's existing job creation efforts, which aimed to create 1.5 million job opportunities. We are proud to report that we have achieved more than 92 percent of our targets,” said Dr. Bayisenge.

Mrs. Asinah Uwineza, a journalism graduate, shared her success story from the 12th edition of Job Net.

“When I was a fresh graduate in Journalism and Communication, I came across Kigali Special Pictures (KSP) Rwanda, which was looking for a teacher for journalism-related courses. I presented my skills and was employed immediately,” recounted Asinah.

The Job Net event brought together more than 1000 job seekers and over 60 employers. The youth connected with employers from various sectors, creating a vibrant atmosphere of opportunity and networking.
