EXPANDING KIGALI CAR FREE DAY

After collecting the suggestions from the general public especially those who have been attending the mass sport at Rwanda Revenue Authority grounds, the City of Kigali have decided to add other sites to facilitate its citizen as the following:

1.    From Sunday 17th March 2019 three sites will be added to the existing site for Kigali Car Free Day. These sites will facilitate those who found it difficult to reach Rwanda Revenue Authority grounds.

2.    Kicukiro: Mass sports activities will take place at IPRC grounds. From 7am participants will jog from IPRC grounds through Niboye-Kagarama road and return to IPRC for aerobics and exercising.

3.    Nyarugenge: Sports activities will be held at Maison des Jeunes in Kimisagara. From 7am participants will meet at Tapis Rouge in Nyamirambo and in Nyabugogo and they will jog through Kimisagara road as they head to Maison des Jeunes for aerobics and exercising. This site is also expected to attract participants from Kimisagara area.

4.    Gasabo: The Independent University of Kigali (ULK) grounds in Gisozi will be used. From 7am participants will meet at Kabuga ka Nyarutarama and head to ULK grounds. Other participants from Gatsata, Jali and Jabana will meet at Karuruma and they will use the new road from Karuruma on their way to ULK grounds.

5.    The Rwanda Revenue Authority site will still be used by participants from the Car Free Zone, Kanogo, Kacyiru, Kimihurura and Amahoro Stadium.

6.    Communication and Mobilisation strategy: Extra efforts have been put in mobilizing all sectors in the City of Kigali. Local leaders, security organs and other leaders are also mobilized to join the public in this expanded Car Free Day.
