Two hundred young people have completed a one-month training course in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), thanks to a Kigali City youth project.

Minister Mitali Protain gives certificate to a youth trained

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Thursday, the Minister of Youth, Protais Mitali, called on the trainees to use the acquired skills to start up businesses and to pass on the skills to other members of their communities.

He asked them to play a key role in the country’s aspirations of becoming an ICT hub, and to fight laziness. The Minister also cautioned the youth against prostitution and drug abuse.

The seminar took place at Kimisagara Youth Centre and was sponsored by the UN Habitat. It attracted participants from various youth cooperatives and associations in the three districts of Kigali.

They trained in computer fundamentals, internet and web design, operating system and Microsoft Office among others.
