Kigali City Council will tomorrow, 28th April 2010 sign a sister city memorandum with the Oklahoma City in the USA. The signing ceremony will be conducted by Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira Mayor of Kigali City and Mick Cornett the Mayor of Oklahoma City at Oklahoma City Hall.
The partnership between Kigali City and Oklahoma City will entail collaborating for the mutual benefit of the communities of both cities by exploring educational, economic, and cultural exchanges.
The partnership will support and encourage visits by citizens of both cities to promote mutual understanding and respect as we work toward a hopeful future for both cities, which are known throughout the world for their courage and resilience in the face of tragedy.
Oklahoma City is host to a big number of Rwandans who are students at Oklahoma Christian University.
Mayor Kirabo is also scheduled to visit Oklahoma Bombing Memorial site, the State Legislature and Oklahoma City downtown redevelopment project. She will also address Oklahoma Christian University community leaders about the investment opportunities in Kigali City. The Mayor Kirabo is also scheduled to meet Oklahoma Secretary of State, Susan Savage and Lieutenant Governor, Jeri Askins
