Kigali Youth clean the City as we approach end of year

On this 2nd December 2009, members of COMEJOGA, a youth cooperative working in Muhima, cleaned the road from the Kigali Main Prison to Cyahafi in the effort of cleaning the city in preparation of the end of year celebrations.

“We are giving our contribution to the cleanness of Kigali and we want Kigali to be very beautiful by the end of the year”, Cassien Ntabareshya, the president of COMEJOGA.

Coopérative des Menuisiers Joyeux de Gakinjiro (COMEJOGA) is among the 47 youth associations which signed performance contracts to clean the city.

Asked about the impact of this agreement, Mr. Rusimbi Charles, Inspector of Youth and Education in the City of Kigali said that more than 40 sites are cleaned and maintained by the youth and that this is evident to people who visit the City.

“Kigali is said to be one of the cleanest cities in Africa. The youth of Kigali contribute towards this and we are encouraging them to continue in the same spirit”, said Rusimbi.

Before the end of the year, youth associations will present their achievements to the Mayor of Kigali and will renew these agreements for next year.
