A cross section of those who attended the event

The City of Kigali yesterday showcased it achievement to a cross section of the residents of the City. The Mayor of the City of Kigali Ndayisaba Fidele outlined the achievement of the City in infrastructure development, social welfare and investment promotion.

Mayor Ndayisaba pointed out that the City is completing a 34 km road construction project that is mainly aimed at decongesting some of the roads in the City. He also announced that the City is going to embark on the construction of 47 km in order to connect some of the surbubs of the City and also construct a by-pass connecting Nyamirambo and Kicukiro. As part of this 2 year project will see the rehabilitation of roads in the central business district and the expansion of Muhima-Nyabugogo and Rwandex-Remera roads.

The mayor also announced that the City is finalising the development of detailed master plans of Gasabo and Kicukiro Districts. "The completion of these plans will enhance the implementation of the city master plan," said the Mayor.

As a mechanism to facilitate investors, the Mayor pointed out that the Kigali construction one stop centre is fully operational and is now testing an information management system to support issuance of contruction permits online.

The City of Kigali has trained over 2000 women in Agaseke basket weaving which has significantly helped them in earning a living.
